Remote char communities are often excluded and remain vulnerable. Unlike citizens of mainland Bangladesh, char women don’t receive much of the public services available. It even becomes difficult for them to attend public institutions (which are far away) for training, learning or employment. Hence, these women have low knowledge of national institutions, and are unaware of their basic rights.
Through Friendship NGO, these marginalised women are made aware of their rights and empowered. Moreover, we provide them with free training and employment to earn from weaving beautiful handloom fabrics.
The areas of Jatrapur, Holokhana, Goynar Potol and Bati Kamari are where they create such wonderful fabrics for you. Try searching for these places on Google. It’s quite unfortunate that they barely have anything to show to the world, apart from token of pure love as such. Each item we provide carries a story of their hardships and determination of change.
